Ena's Journey from a Nightmare
The meaning of the project
The Journey from a Nightmare serves as a vessel to project my imagination. I can express myself through design, movement, voice, acting, drawing. I do not want to represent anybody, or imitate anybody. As Tadeusz Kantor said actors 'do not express anything but themselves (...) and challenge with their individuality'.
As each individuality is complex in it's way I am giving you the sections of the process until 22/4/2020 in a form of showreel. Those are the most meaningful improvisations so far. For more, you can simply scroll down.
How it got started
The Short Story
This page shows my impression based on the adaptation of the Grimm's Tale, Hansel and Gretel and Tadeusz Kantor's work. I am expressing the nightmare, the fears of the night, no matter if you are lost in the wood or being at home and having a frightening dream. Some mundane objects came to life. They are hunting the dreamer who can never catch the dream but only escape from it when it is time to wake up. The objects are making sounds that one has never heard before, mumbling and speaking in foreign languages. All of this, and then repeat. Again, and again.
'Without an actor, the object was a lifeless wreck. On the other hand the actors were conditioned by those same objects' (Tadeusz Kantor, Unpublished, p. 3)
